Unlike natural slate roofing symphony shingles withstand foot traffic cracking and buckling. This usually results in water pooling under slate tiles and into the ceiling.

This means that it will last at least 2 times longer than a traditional shingles roof. Do not swab tar onto slate tiles as it only deflects water causing it to find another path downward.
